Quarry Bank Mill
This working 18th Century water powered cotton mill is set in the National Trust country parkland of Styal. As well as the mill there are guided tours of the Apprentice House, which housed the children who worked at the mill. Strolling through the picturesque gardens it’s easy to forget how hard it must have been for the pauper children working at the mill. Cloth is still produced at the mill and is for sale at the on-site shop, created the same way it was in the 18th Century – but with much better paid labour!
Trafford Centre
Shop til you drop in this huge shopping mall with high street stores, designer shops, restaurants, cinema and even miniature golf!
The Lowry
A waterside collection of theatres, galleries, restaurants and shops.
Whitworth Art Gallery
Home to one of the most famous collections of British artworks, paintings, prints and sculptures.
